Leeward men’s clinic was made with one goal in mind - make therapy something that works for men.
The way men and women process and manage their emotions can be completely different and we needed to make a change. Leeward Men’s clinic trains all their therapists to learn about the origins of the way men’s brains work, the cultural components contributing to the way men are taught to handle stress and most importantly, the most evidence proven techniques that help men change the way that they feel. Additionally, our personalized treatment plans give clients the roadmap that they need to understand their course of action and get the results they want in life as efficiently as possible.

Anyone! Leeward Men specializes in men’s mental health, but we are open to any client that seeks treatment through this lens. This includes but is not limited to: women who are seeking to understand their partner or son, straight and gay couples, family therapy, trans identifying people, and more.

Leeward Men’s Clinic rigorous training program was made to provide our staff with all the tools to get men the best results in therapy. We consulted with experts in the field of men’s work, spearheaded by author and TED talk presenter, speaker Dr. Elliott
Kronenfeld. Our therapists, who are already seasoned in the traditional realms of therapy, are put through the training program. That includes techniques that work best for men to increase comfort, honesty, motivation and skills that work. Our therapists have to adequately conduct role plays and pass a test to become certified. -
Therapy can seem intimidating, but once you get into it, it’s like talking to a friend. Before you begin, you are welcome to fill out our intake form so that your therapist has some information on what brings you in. You are always welcome to share as little or as much as you want. If you choose to come into the office, you will be greeted in the waiting room and when you come in, you will be able to share how you are feeling, what you want to achieve in therapy and more. If you want, your therapist can lead the conversation. You will always leave with something to work on in between sessions and are hopefully immediately feeling better.

Therapy is different for everyone, but Leeward Therapists have worked hard to make therapy the most efficient and effective that it can be. Most people can work through a presenting problem in 6-8 weeks. That being said, many clients begin to get comfortable with the therapy process and stay longer to work through deeper rooted issues and enjoy the relief that therapy brings them.

Leeward Men’s Clinic is a talk therapy clinic, so the treatment that we provide does not include medication management. That being said, if medication is a route you want to take we work closely with either your PCP on helping you access medication or provide you with resources that we often collaborate with.

Leeward Counseling & Leeward Men’s clinic choose to not bill directly through insurance for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, we care about your privacy. When you bill through insurance your company will have access to all your records, which could be seen by dozens of people. Insurance companies also require you to have a “mental illness” diagnosis, which we don’t believe you should have a label carried with you on your medical records forever. Additionally, your treatment is dictated by what your insurance believes is best for you. Many of our clients are able to get partial or full refunds through their out of network benefits.
